Women, respectfully
Women can live with them, can't live without them. Guys we know we can't satisfy them, and I am not talking, sexually. Women have been on brain washed by so many media fronts. Here is food for thought. Think about how simple of a life your grandma lived. How happy she was, with very little material possessions. I like Women, love them, but their needs grow exponentially. Men are simple, very much like a dog, only we stand up to pee. Women are very complicated, and getting more complicated thru each passing generation. Most men are happy, if they get a Lil pussy, good food and live a hassle free live. Kinda like a dog, we are simple. Party on gents. Oh ladies, I ain't hating. I feel for you.

Respectfully… grandma wasn’t actually happy in her simple life. Woman have been hearing the truth and being told to do it differently our whole lives.
Women are actually pretty simple too. Respect us and don’t objectify us 24/7

I came along late in my father's life, so his relatives were of older generations than most people my age. I never got to meet my grandmother on his side of the family. She passed long before I was born. But from what I learned about her, she was happy. They were a farm family that didn't have a lot. Today, people eat oranges whenever they want. Back then, the only time they got an orange was for Christmas. People today would laugh if you gave them an orange as a gift, but then people were more thankful and appreciative. My father's sisters were all delightful ladies to be around. None of them accumulated great wealth.
My mother's mother was born in the 1890s, and was happy with what she had. She told me about her grandmother, and the life she lived. I think she was contented to be a midwife.
Not everyone is happy in any given generation. There have always been those who desire riches and to control other people. None of them I think of were, or are, happy. Many very rich people live miserable lives.
During the time I have lived, I see each generation decline.

Without sounding too much like a feminist, women were not allowed to have their own bank accounts until the 70s or have a credit card in their name or buy property without a husband. You can’t expect women of today’s generation to be happy with the things that other generations had whenever we have access to so much more. As much as men hate to see it we are past the women are to be seen and not heard point in life.

This is the most boomer shit imaginable. Women aren't some inscrutable greed-filled mystery box, they're people dude.
Get out of here with that "you should be simple and happy like us men" condescending bullshit. Next you'll be telling the girl at Subway she'd be prettier if she smiled more.
God forbid a woman want something more than a-stay at-home astere life dependant on the whims of their husband. It's thanks to the entrepreneurial ambition of the women on this board that we're even here in the first place.

My mother was single until in her 30s. This was long before the 70s. She did have a bank account, as did other single women. While it may have been more difficult to get a credit card or get a loan, some did. Back then, credit cards were not that common anyway. My mother never wanted a credit card. I personally remember single women who owned a house and car.
A bank in town, as a way of promoting business, set up with our elementary school a system of creating savings accounts for children. They had a vehicle similar to a bookmobile that made the rounds of all the schools. Mothers of some of the students would volunteer to act as tellers. We would line up outside the van and wait our turn to deposit anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars. This was in the 3rd grade, before the 70s, and both boys and girls had accounts in their own names.
I have seen the idea of women not having bank accounts floating around on the internet. Just another Urban Legend.

I know the opportunities for women are better today then ever but over the years I have noticed being happy is more of a choice then anything
I have meet women with nothing that was very happy and have meet women with a lot and the most happy people ever and the opposite has been true also
And the most of the happy ones all said it was/is a choice

Can't speak for your grandmother, but for most women of the 50's - 70's it wasn't an issue of were they happier, it simply was they didn't have many choices. A divorcee or single woman with children were looked down upon in that society. Job choices were limited. It wasn't until 1974 that a woman could get a car loan, mortgage or credit card without the cosigner of a man (Fair Credit Act of 1974 - and not to get political, but not a single republican voted for it). A woman couldn't own a business by herself until 1985. Ninteen-fvckin-eighty five. The ability to a legal abortion in 1972 meant women could (more or less) enjoy sex much the same way men could without the repercussions of an unwanted pregnancy. So just put yourself in a woman's shoes in 1970. No access to credit, can't own a business, limited career paths, and takes a man to get to all of those. I don't know about you, but I damn sure would not be happy.
